You, Nayla, a journalist, are in a yellow self-flying car. It's a bit old, but still in shape. It makes a strange rumbling sound, but the rain pounds louder.
[[You notice the rumbling]] or [[you keep shuffling through your paperwork.]]Red lights flashes on the screen. You open the dashboard.
Someone has put an [[engine rat]] inside your car.You call Vic, your boss that is always a bit too worried for you and who sometimes forget that you, Nayla, aren't his daughter. Fortunalety, though, [[he answers immediately]].Engine rats are biotech rats evolved to eat machinery. You see it's radioactive yellow eyes looking up straight at you.
You either [[try to kill it]] or you [[call the police]] for help! You try to grab the rat but it runs down your legs. It ate most of the inside of your car. How are you still flying? You scream. The rat comes up your leg, to your stomach, to your chest. It bites and squeeks and you try to hit it, to take it off, but it hurts badly. You know it's poisonous.
Suddenly, everything fades away. And you wonder: Was all of this in vain?
[[Start over]]."Hello, my name is Nayla. I'm on route A-204 and something is wrong. I'm afraid someone might want to kill me!"
The dial cuts. No one replies. The rain tumbles.
[[You exit the highway.]] Once you hear the scratching and disturbing noise, you get worried.
Do you try to [[activate the manuel settings of the car]]?
Or do you [[call Vic]]?In this digital world, you aren't used to work with paper. It was your boss's idea. Vic was scared of your investigation. He asked you to print everything and then he wiped out your computer.
In your scattered paperwork, [[a picture]] draws your attention, but also a [[list of bank accounts]] you haven't had the time to check out yet."Where the hell are you Nayla? Didn't you hear? They know! They know everything! You need to hide, now!"
"Vic, I'm driving and this sound — wait, they know? Who told them? Where are you?"
"There was a mole, t-they got our names a-a-and they want us to shut up about what we f-found..."
"Calm down, Vic. They can't really hurt us..."
"You don't understand, Nayla. They got my wife. They want us dead. You dead."
You hang up. Heart pumping. You're almost near the building. Almost there.
[[Should you turn back?]] or [[Continue your objective?]]You change the course of the self-flying car. You're not sure where. But far away.
The sound gets worse. This isn't normal, so you [[activate the manuel settings of the car]].You are way too far in this investigation to turn around and flee. You can see the building appear more sharply behind the fog. If only your car can handle the drive until you arrive...
[[You exit the highway.]]In this pixelated black and white picture, you feel like the man in the background is familiar, even though his hood hides most of his face. Then, you recognize his bracelet.
You know him. From a long time ago. If he is in this too, this means you are in more danger than you thought.
You hear the rumbling noise. And you know it isn't the rain.
You [[call Vic]]
or
[[Should you turn back?]]You go through the list of bank accounts associated with this one company you are tracking down. Vic says you shouldn't mess with such powerful people, but you can't help to seek out the truth. It is your job, afterall.
But one bank account's name you know. R.A.I.N. They knocked on your door earlier this week. Said there was a leak in your apartment. Shit. You let them in.
They must have bugged your home. And your car. Maybe you should [[open your dashboard]], or [[call the police]]?You open the dashboard.
There is an ugly [[engine rat]] inside your car!The car, miraculously, exits the highway and slowly descends to destination. The rain makes it hard to see, but the building with all the information you need is right in front of you. The seventh floor is in complete darkness, and that is where you need to go.
But suddenly, the car shuts off. No power. Nothing. You feel the car slowly freezing in mid-air, [[and...]]The car is falling down. You are falling down. Right in front of the building.
You don't know why, but you try to save your file folder and put it close to your chest.
You close your eyes before feeling the hit.
You can't beleive they'll win like this.
You don't know that a Hooded Man saw you fall.
